Our skippers are experienced sailors and know the Kalajoki waters like the back of their hand. At SeaFox Kalajoki, our team is dedicated to providing customers with new experiences by offering fishing trips and cruises. We prioritize our customers' enjoyment and safety while out at sea.

Meet our head skipper, company founder, and CEO, Matti Hautala. Growing up in Yppäri, Matti has always had a love for the sea and fishing, inheriting fishing nets from his grandfather and accumulating various fishing equipment over time. As a young man, Matti even served in the navy at the Helsinki naval station and had the opportunity to captain larger vessels. Although he pursued a career in the metal industry, Matti decided to follow his dream of spending time at sea and creating memorable experiences for customers through fishing trips and cruises with SeaKalajoki. The DMS Matilda is Matti's company flagship and pride and joy, named after his great-grandmother.

Our other captain, Simo Hihnala, is a native of Himanka and has been familiar with the waters of the area since childhood fishing trips. Simo is a father of three and a grandfather of nine grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, and outdoor activities are close to his heart. In winter, the coast offers great opportunities for skiing trips. In the summer, Simo enjoys riding his motorcycle in addition to piloting a boat, and restoring old cars is also a beloved hobby.
