Sea Trip to Maakalla Islet

Join us in exploring the Maakalla self-governing area

Maakalla is a small and charming island located 16 kilometers from Kalajoki's Hiekkasärkät. Maakalla was only revealed from under the water in the 1400s and has become a base for fishermen over the centuries. The island is still a self-governing area.

Our skilled skippers will take you to Maakalla island where you can visit the beautiful wooden church and small rectory, enjoy the atmosphere of the old fishing village, and experience the island's unique nature. In the summer of 2021, a new museum was also opened on Maakalla.

Fresh smoked whitefish is almost always available on the island from a local fisherman! We will spend approximately two hours on Maakalla.

SeaFox Kalajoki will take you to Maakalla from May to October. Welcome aboard!

Terms:

We take a maximum of 9 persons on the boat.

There must be a minimum of 4 participants for the excursion to take place. We will notify you if the excursion is cancelled or rescheduled due to lack of participants.

Children are considered to be under 15 years old.

Please note that the excursion is weather-dependent.

Directions: Turn towards Hiekkasärkät area from highway 8, near the ABC gas station. Go straight towards the roundabout. Take the third exit from the roundabout to Keskuskarintie road. Drive straight for about 2 km until you reach Keskuskarin marina. Please be at the marina at least 5 minutes before departure!

Safety

Our common safety is important to us. We go through safety factors related to boating with our customers before the departure of the trip. Each customer is also provided with a life jacket before boarding the boat. We also go through the most important safety issues before departure.
