Welcome to experience the springtime Arctic Ocean in the Gulf of Bothnia. On board the DMS Matilda, we'll head to the outer sea ice paradise where you can learn about the life of the seals in the Gulf of Bothnia and enjoy the spring sun and fresh sea air. Joining you on the adventure is a professional boat captain and a local seal expert. During the trip, you'll hear many interesting stories about the seals, their habits, and the history of seal hunting. The trips are carried out with safety in mind, and weather conditions are always assessed before departure.
Our seal expert, Juha Vierimaa:
Juha Vierimaa comes from a family of fishermen and seal hunters in Kalajoki and has been in contact with seals since childhood. Juha is also involved in seal research both in the Gulf of Bothnia and with the Saimaa ringed seal. In addition, Juha has acted as an expert in ice conditions and with seals for the Madventures Finland team.

Driving directions: Turn off from Highway 8 towards the Hiekkasärkät area, near the ABC gas station. Drive straight towards the roundabout. Take the third exit onto Keskuskarintie. Continue straight for about 2 km until you reach Keskuskarin marina. Please be at the marina at least 5 minutes before departure!
